They probably make nice bank in my area with selling GSM roaming to AT&T and T-Mobile.
I wonder how Alltel's numbers would be different if they deployed HSPA+? It would be a nice differentiator...
Kyle, have you considered getting a StraightTalk SIM and popping it into a GSM phone? That seems like the best deal going right now, IMO.

No, Alltel should NOT be granted free use of Verizon's network! That is absolutely crazy... To expect Verizon to have to pay for a horrendous investment of ATN? ATN is paying the same roaming rates...

I'm kind of thinking USCC would be a good fit taking this over too. They go out of their way to make customers happy.
Cost. I'm assuming T-Mobile, the national leader isn't big for coverage in Gaffney, SC. A move to Verizon or AT&T would be a big cost increase.
