• Freedom Mobile's Expansion Plans for Q1 2019

Good news for mobile subscribers in Alberta and BC... Freedom Mobile has confirmed expansion plans for those two provinces. Expect their LTE network to launch in the cities of Red Deer and Victoria in February, 2019.

Here's the planned coverage map for Red Deer. New store locations will be as follows:

    1. Parkland Mall
    2. Bower Place

And here's the coverage map plus the five planned store locations in Victoria:

    1. Westshore Town Centre
    2. Mayfair Shopping Centre
    3. Uptown
    4. Hillside Shopping Centre
    5. The Bay Centre

There's also some new coverage in the works for Ontario. Look for a 4G signal in the following cities:

    1. Belleville
    2. Brockville
    3. Cobourg
    4. Cornwall
    5. Pembroke

... Just not until March of next year.

I wish they would expand on to the highways like the 401, 416 ect. Would be so convenient to have those when you're traveling back and forth

All of them except Pembroke.. But as you leave those cities you roam again.. Would like to see them all connected via along the highway so you don't roam

They will all be connected. Maybe not on day 1, but once the towns are covered, there's not a lot of gap between to fill for continuous connection. There are also towers in progress in smaller towns between the ones named, further pointing to this being their goal.
I predict by end of 2019 you'll see all of 401-east covered through to Cornwall.
Perhaps 416 as well, just no announcements or activity started there yet.

You mean when you are illegally using your cell phone while driving?

      Thanks but no thanks

Put coverage where people live and work, not where they commute

Not illegal with Bluetooth. I also have app that does txts through Bluetooth n I can respond through Bluetooth as TXT. As long as you phone is not in your hand it is legal

Oh Pul-leeze.... Lots of apps use data in the background while you're driving...like, maybe...oh...GPS navigation tools, to name but one?

Anyhow, on the expansion front...today in Trenton Ontario I picked up 4 bars of LTE on the Home network, so clearly the Belleville expansion is WAY ahead of schedule! I was actually able to maintain usable service on the Home network through a good portion of the Trenton area.

I checked on the way back home and nothing was live in the Cobourg area, however.

Both of these areas are HUGE for me expansion wise as they are both areas that I work in occasionally and I was blowing through my 1 gig of away data regularly.
