I've made a free K790 iSync plugin

I can't believe those punks at mobile.feisar.com started charging for SE phone plugins for iSync. Making them is seriously easy. All you do is copy an existing SE phone plugin for a similar model, like the W810, and replace all instances of "W810" with "K790" or whatever you want in the plist files. This only works if they use the same synchronization interface so you can't do it with an M600 for example. Then you just put a new icon on it and you're done. So, that's what I've done.

http://mroach.com/stuff/SonyEricsso...phoneplugin.zip

Just download that, unzip it, and put it in /Library/PhonePlugins/ and the device will be supported in iSync. If anyone requests it, I'll do it for other models like the Z550 and K610 and whatever else they list here: http://mobile.feisar.com/phone_plugins_23.html

If you want to roll your own plugins, all you do is copy the W810 plugin from /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevic
e/Contents/PlugIns/ to your home directory or something and then do this against all of the plist files

perl -pi -e 's/W810/K790/g'

Of course you can just edit them by hand, but that takes more time.

Hey thanks for making it. I'm using their plugin, but then again I got it for free when it was a beta. Works fine for both the K790a and K790i.

Personally, I don't think it's that bad that they charge for the plugin. It's only £1.49 after all (for this CAD$550 phone), and it comes with a nice K790 icon for iSync.

Mine also comes with an icon that doesn't have foolish branding on it.

The link in my original post works just. It may have been down for an hour or two a couple times last week because of routing problems with Carleton NOC and/or Bell Canada. It's fine now though.

Sure, I've made a reminder for myself to do this. I'll do the K800 as well while I'm at it.

Thank You mroach that would help alot, I tried to roll the plugin for the Z525a myself but I must be missing something because iSync still tells me that the device is unsupported. I look forward to you posting the plug-in thank you
