Does anyone know what the dimensions are on this phone and where the micro sd slot will be located? Under the back, or on the side like the 8300, and vx8500?
the photo I saw it looks like the slot is on the left side (opposite to my 8100)
not sure where the voice record button is... - Anyone seen the right side of it?
Also, the Clr button does not have the speaker phone icon on it, so maybe the speakerphone is turned on another way!
whats the screen resolution for the outside screen? is it 65k tft like the 8100, or 65oled like the crappy screen on the 8300?
The outer screen on the 8600 is a 128x160 65k TFT. For refrence the outer screen on the 8100 is 128x128 65k TFT, and the outer screen on the 8300 is a 96x96 65k OLED. As for the microSD slot it is on the right hand side of the phone (as you are looking at it) so you don't have to remove the battery or anything to get to it.

Cool, what are the dimensions of the phone? Actual size?

3.89" (H) x 1.93" (W) x 0.58" (D)
If you compare that to the RAZR they are almost identical (8600 a little bit more narrow). The KRZR on the other hand is slightly bigger all the way around.

The images of the 8600 say Oct 7. When they do things like that, does the date actually have any relevance?
The image shows "Tue Oct 7".
If you look in October 2006, you will see that Oct 7 is not a Tuesday, but a Saturday.
There won't be a Tuesday Oct 7 until 2008!!!

It didn't with the Chocolate. While the phone was only being displayed on the Verizon Web site, it showed a date of Aug. 16, 2006 and it launched July 30, 2006 (close to midnight). So maybe it will play out the same, as far as the two week ahead launch is concerned.

Yea i was thinking the same I would doubt the date has any real relevance, and its just there as an example, but anettis im in the same boat as you. I just renewed my contract on the 12th and have until the 27th, Im liking the chocolate enough to keep it (esp. with upcoming speakerphone update) but if I see a confirmed date before that I'll think about it..
