It appears to be the first Hybrid Iden/CDMA Phone. Iden for Dispatch Only, and CDMA for Interconnect, and Data. No EVDO either. Not really a Dual Mode Phone, more of a Seperate but not so equal phone. Sort of like a cheap Sprint phone with a iDen TX/RX tacked on for dispatch...
Not sure it even has Bluetooth... Does'nt mention it in the manual.
And back to the good old round antenna, and status light...
N1900 MHz CDMA capability allows you to make and
receive calls while on the Nationwide Sprint Network and
to roam on other networks where we’ve implemented
roaming agreements with other carriers (page 103).
Nextel Walkie-Talkie service allows you to make Walkie-
Talkie calls on other networks where we’ve implemented
roaming agreements.
SMS Text Messaging (page 156) provides quick and
convenient messaging capabilities.

Motorola's gonna have me so broke at the end of the year. I wonder if all of these phones are tax deductable purchases since I'm a dealer...
If you throw them against the wall when your done with them. One could right it off as a loss on their TAXES...
Phone(s):
1: Samsung SGH i607 Blackjack & a MotoRAZR V3i as a backup.
2: Sony Ericsson HBH-GV435 Bluetooth™ Headset.
3: Plantronics 320 Bluetooth™ Headset.
Read the user manual, dude... I love how the SIM card sits in comparison with other Nextel devices, but it looks like it will take the same battery as a i830/836... That's the only downside I've seen so far (those batteries suck!).
So what if it's CDMA for voice, it's still iDEN for PTT, and you can put Vision services on this phone so the text messaging that a lot of people ***** about will probably be SO MUCH BETTER!

CDMA has terrible voice quality. CDMA drops more calls, isn't reliable like iDEN is.
There is NO comparison between iDEN and CDMA. CDMA especially with Sprint is absolutely horrid. Been there, done it. Don't want it again, ever!

No iDen for Voice is a deal breaker for me... And it looks like it uses the same stupid battery that the i580 is also using, and a new bottom connector.

Me too, Platty... I'll just get one because I can. I'll always (for as long as I can) use iDEN for everything. I don't text message, so I can't complain. Texting is pointless anyway...
