New HUP Renewal Policy for Old Customers (Prior to November 4th)
For all customers who have plans from prior to November 4th, Loyalty Plans, or Retention Plans that are eligible for HUP Renewals.
Customers looking to renewal their contracts must be within 6 months of the end of their agreement, regardless if they are on a 2 year or a 3 year agreement. This applies for all customers who have plans that are eligible for HUP Renewal Credits (grandfathered plans, loyalty plans, retention plans, city fido [pending certain conditions], country fido [pending certain conditions].
All customers who are eligible to renew their contract will continue to be able to combine Fido Dollars with the reduced handset pricing.
And as always, customers can use their Fido Dollars towards the retail pricing of hardware when they are not eligible for a renewal credit.

who cares.
its not like this is Rogers or Bell where you have High End expensive phones that you actually desire and look forward to a HUP. Most fido phones are obtainable buy just purchasing them outright. (like you would and if you do, you need your head examined)
that's where Fido will shoot themselves in the foot by selling cheap phones/low end. For older customers on a average priced agreement. There is no reason to sign another 3year agreement. I remember the days that I would look forward to renew just to be able to afford the latest and greatest phones
Well I think that's kind of the point. They mention that due to the new lower prices, they require people to wait a little longer to get the upgrades....but at the same time, the phones are pretty cheap now.

With all this cost cutting, does that mean that Fido was not a profitable business from the start?
Or does Rogers simply want to double their revenues?
Because if you look at the new price plans vs the old ones.
Yeah, theres no SAF but they did jack up the prices a little and you still end up paying pretty much the same thing.

30.00$ 1GB Data Package | 6.00$ Call Display | 5.00$ 200 Text Messages
6.95$ SAF | 0.50$ 911 emergency service fee

^CRTC told Rogers that Fido had to remain "competitive" for I think 5 or 8 years before they could "do as they wished"....I think were coming close to that point!
Fido still does remain competitive against the competition I think. The unlimited SMS, per second billing, no saf, no 911 is still a huge market receptor for customers!
The other cool trick! Everyone comes in asking about this huge $15 plan thats advertised all over the place. 99.9999% of them get upsold to the $25 plan no argument Great tactic IMHO!

The only good phone to look forward to right now from Fido is the iPhone. Otherwise, the rest of the lineup is pretty basic.
@World. That's so true. We were gonna get our friend the $15 plan as her birthday present, but her mom decided to get the $20 plan instead just to get that unlimited evening and weekends. They were deciding to get that $25 plan as well, but figured it was too expensive and un-needed.
Wow, what's this "RETIRED", when did this happened????
On the other hand by the time Rogers neuter Fido they may have to worry about how to keep customers tied, probably they will come with new HUP for 10 years or free phones on 5 years contract or who knows....maybe life....

I agree with your list, and would add that 7 pm evenings are very attractive to people as well. I'm one of the few who actually kind of likes the new Fido, based on the above reasons plus their transparent prices in advertising, unlike the big three and the extra fees they try to hide.

I would say the iPhone is below even the SE z520a for quality.
Just get an iPod touch and get a cheap phone if you need the apps that much.
