iphone 3g (refurbished) steal of a deal for premier customers under contract

This is a little variation of the refurbished iphone 3g deals going on.

I know they are selling refurbished iphone 3g 8GB for $149.99 with 2 year contract upgrade.

However, I find for ATT premier customers who are currently contract (especially for those who just upgraded and used their subsidy upgrade).

They should jump on getting a refurbished iphone 3g for $199/299 (8GB/16GB).

Say you upgraded 1 month ago and your account is not eligible for another upgrade for another 17 months. You just buy a "spare" refurbished iphone 3g at those prices and just extend your commitment for just 1 months.

Just logon to your account as you normally do. check on the upgrade options.

I have 5 lines. I just chose the line I just upgraded and than it gave me the option of buying "new" for 399/499. Or "refurbished" for 199/299.

There's a small asterisk that says Apple requires 2 year contract.

But if you just upgraded your line, who cares if this extends your contract a few extra months.

You are truly get a steal of a deal if you are looking for an extra iphone 3g. This is a great option for those of us with premier membership.

For the other poster who asked: Premier members get discounts from our workplaces. You need to have a valid workplace email to confirm your discounts with ATT.

Do you have a line currently not eligible for an upgrade?
If you have a line not eligible for an upgrade, use that line and you will see the 199/299 refurbished upgrade.

If you have a line that is eligible for an upgrade, you will not see the refurbished upgrade option for 199/299. Kinda of strange, but that's how premier is working right now. And it's best works for people who just upgraded their current phone line and want to renew for another 2 years.

Oh yeah I found it. That was weird. I thought it'd be listed under the new price, but I guess you had to scroll down more. Anyways what do you guys think? Buy an 8gb or a 16gb? I'm going to turn around and sell it. By the way, do these just come in a white box then?

It won't be a Apple white box.

It will probably be a generic orange and white ATT "quality" refurbished box.

If you are thinking of reselling than the 16GB has higher resell value.

Also wait until Jan 2009 to resell because a software unlock is very close around the corner. Once there is a legit (abeit illegal against Apple/ATT's terms of service!) software unlock, the resell price will be much higher.

Oh for sure I'm going to wait for the software unlock! Is it harder to sell a 16gb? I mean 500+ for a phone is a lot of money. I sold a 8gb for 400, and even that took me a few days to sell.

By the way do you think we can buy more than one? I mean purchase one, and then go back to purchase another one?

No, just select the option "Purchase the device at full price" on the premier website. You don't have to extend your contract or get a data plan.

2012? o_O

It's only 2008 right now? Anyways I got my plan in July too and I bought a refurbished one. I figured I could sell it for at least $450 w/o unlock. Which definitely covers ETF fee if I were to cancel my contract when my plan would have expired had I not upgraded.
