thank you for proving my point from some time ago...i always said that most people (if any) would actually buy the Touch if they had to pay $30/month (or more) for the data feature...the ONLY reason people buy the Touch is for the cheap data plan...period.

Bell's new marketing slogan: Over promise, Under deliver. "System Access Fees are charged by all wireless companies to help pay for the network and the ongoing software, technology and other upgrades to that network. Generally, the higher the fee, the greater the opportunity to invest in network quality to enhance your experience. Just one more reason to choose Bell. "

Of course the $7 feature was the only reason I have a line with Bell. I already had a P4000 with Telus at the time, but unlimited data for such a low price got me to open a new line with Bell.
That said the HTC Touch is still an Excellent phone. I'd take it over the similarly priced BB Pearl any day in the week, with or without the $7 feature.
It's one of the smallest WM device out there and you can do a lot with WM. Heck, my deactivated P4000 is still getting some usage because it is still a full featured PDA.
However, it is sad to see Bell will not be supporting the $7/$10 features on the Touch Dual. Eventually I will get bored of my Touch and want to upgrade. If they don't offer some new PDA's that can use the $7 feature, I will eventually close my account and go back to Telus for data service.

When are you changing your nickname to DirtyJ_CapitainObvious? Most people have been agreeing with this statement for a while, yet you phrase it like you're the only one that can see this glaringly obvious fact (which is not the negative that you make it out to be -- lower the price to anything and lots of people will buy it only because it's cheap).
I wouldn't have gotten the touch if the data charge was $30. The fact that the plan was cheap, and I heard amazing reviews about the phone COMBINED was what made me want to buy it. I had never used a smartphone at that point before.
Even now, I would take a regular phone over a smartphone that cost $30 for data/month. I'd just get a RAZR or more likely a ROKR.
I used to work for Bell for many years.. And really the only reason Im still with them is my monthly plan is pretty old and its great value for the money. Unfortuently my Sammy A-680 lol is old and its time to get a new phone. It kills me when bell who is laying off 2500 people can't even come out with a competitve product...
Im curious why on early they would position the Samsung Instinct as the phone to have?? The sprint reviews and the typical samsung "buy it and you cant mod it" style leave me wanthign something else..
What is Bells deal with Samsung why do they seem like best buddies?
