Bell's charging for incoming TXT message, are they crazy~!!!!
Saw it on my bill:
Starting August 8th 2008, all text messages received will be charged 15 cents per message, unless you subscribe to a text messaging rate plan or bundle.
.... blah blah blah...
So does it mean my 100 txt msg plan, 100 txt msg will include both incoming and outgoing, so that means it's drastically less.

Bell should have made it clear that if you have a texting option, incoming will still be free and UNLIMITED. I'm sure the OP isn't the only person who will be confused... Could've saved many calls to customer service.

No, Bell should have kept all incoming text as unlimited. If they just wanted more revenue, then just jack up the price of sending a text. Its still pathetic considering the minimal amount of data that's being sent/received, but charging for something that you have no control over is absolutely ridiculous.

Telus led on the one btw. Bell got wind Telus was doing it starting in the summer so they followed suit... still sucks though. I mean you can't control if someone sends you a text

In all European countries all incoming calls or messages are free. The thinking behind this is that you can't control who calls or messages you so you shouldn't have to pay.
The person who makes the decision to send the text message should pay. Anything else is an invitation to text message spam.
Next thing you know Bell will start sending people text messages so they can collect the revenue.

Charging for incoming calls isn't bad because you can always ignore them (at least if you have caller ID, which should be included for free like prepaid customers and carriers everywhere else in the world).
Charging for incoming text messages is a cheap money grab.

lol well good luck to them. They're already finishing dead last in activations and ARPU, so there's nowhere to go but up! I'm sure raising prices will get more people flocking to them
