Curve Delay on Telus Network

Just heard from internal corporate Telus management that the Curve is now targeted for a "summer 08" release date. They do not know exactly when. Issues in testing phase with hardware so Blackberry is trying to resolve. They are aware of the Bell and Sprint release dates and are not suggesting they will be delayed. This issue may be specific to Telus. People should not be surprised if it launches a good bit after Bell and Sprint.

Yes, he is, or just misinformed. When I saw the thread I called up to find out, if in fact his source was correct, they forgot to tell corporate, because they are still planning for a 12 April release.

Not to say this info is right or wrong but this same thing supposedly happened before the 8830 launch as well.

It should launch at the same time as bell as bell and telus networks...more or less the same thing aka each company roams of the other on each side of the country.

Nice, gives me time to save up some cash to pick it up.

Any way this could be delayed so they can wait for the 4.5 OS? Last I heard it was nowhere near ready for the public yet.

Actually, the last newsletter than RIM published mentioned that it would be released in Spring '08. My guess is that it will be available in late April or early May to correspond with WES.

I'm not someone who is claiming I have THE final word on this or some all-knowing inside mystery source. All I am saying is that someone in Telus corporate management (not a dealer or a CSR, etc) told me today that the latest word is that they've been having hardware problems in testing and BB is trying to resolve. It was suggested to me that this could be a Telus specific issue, so may not impact the Bell or Sprint launch. He said people who are tracking the Telus launch by Bell and Sprint leaks may be relying on a faulty assumption. The Telus launch is now scheduled as "summer 2008." He didn't know further details and acknowledged that "summer 2008" is intentionally broad, in case BB doesn't complete the fix and they get pushed again. I'm not claiming this is true but rather just passing on this info for people to do with what they wish. I would be quite pleased to be proven wrong on this. But, personally, I do trust this source as he's been correct before with info before I saw it hit this forum.

umm... you do know you could have just waited until you saved the cash even if it came out earlier right?
