Nokia N95 Variation Guide for Noobs

These new posts from confused S60 first-timers are getting really redundant, so I think it's time for a quick reference guide for people to read before mashing that New Thread button. Hopefully, this will clear up a lot of the confusion from people having a hard time finding information about these three phones.

Bear in mind, all variations of the N95 have a standard set of features that do not change from model to model (5mp camera, GPS, WLAN, etc.,). This chart is not all inclusive to every feature of each variation, but only to those features that separate them from one another.

Nokia N95-1 (Classic)
  • Quadband GSM, 3G 2100 for Europe
  • Available in Silver/Plum, Silver/Sand, Silver/Graphite, Silver/Red, and Silver/Pink color variants
  • 30mb of RAM on boot with newest firmware
  • 2.6" 240x320 screen
  • 950mAh battery
  • Camera lens cover present
  • MicroSDHC memory card slot expandable up to 32gb (current largest card available is 8gb)
  • Flat, black media keys on secondary slide out keypad

Nokia N95-2 (8gb)
  • Quadband GSM, 3G 2100 for Europe
  • Available in Black/Black
  • 90mb RAM available on boot
  • 2.8" 240x320 screen
  • 1200mAh battery
  • Equipped with demand paging for opening intensive applications faster and increasing the overall speed of the device
  • Newest firmware allows direct viewing of YouTube content from YouTube website
  • Camera lens cover absent
  • 8gb of internal storage
  • Memory card slot absent
  • Front keys are smaller and grouped to accommodate larger screen
  • Raised, black media keys on secondary slide out keypad

Nokia N95-3 (US NAM)
  • Quadband GSM, 3G 850/1900 for North America
  • Available in Silver/Black and Silver/Bronze
  • 80mb of RAM on boot with newest firmware
  • 2.6" 240x320 screen
  • 1200mAh battery
  • Camera lens cover absent
  • MicroSDHC memory card slot expandable up to 32gb (current largest card available is 8gb)
  • Raised, black media keys on secondary slide out keypad

I take no credit whatsoever for any of the photos posted. All of them were from searches through Flickr, Yahoo images, Google images, eBay seller x1387, and Mobile City Online.

Feel free to add any information to this page if I've forgotten anything. I'm sure it will have to be updated when the rumored 8gb NAM version comes out, if it does. Hope this helps.

Nokia N95-4 (8gb NAM)
  • Quadband GSM, 3G 850/1900 for North America
  • Available in Black/Black
  • 90mb RAM available on boot
  • 2.8" 240x320 screen
  • 1200mAh battery
  • Equipped with demand paging for opening intensive applications faster and increasing the overall speed of the device
  • Newest firmware allows direct viewing of YouTube content from YouTube website
  • Camera lens cover absent
  • 8gb of internal storage
  • Memory card slot absent
  • Front keys are smaller and grouped to accommodate larger screen
  • Raised, black media keys on secondary slide out keypad

NOTE: This information is not final and may not be accurate since the device has not been released. Any changes to the final product when it is released will be updated here.

Should probably be stickied. When the NA 3G 8GB comes out, you'll need to update.

This deserves a sticky.

On top of this should be a real chart (probably made in excel, then take a screen shot) of all the features as far as screen size, battery size, RAM, US 3G, international 3G, etc...

Good idea. I think I'll put that together now.

Edit: I take that back. I'll put it together when I have my Windows machine back with Office on it. I've never used a Linux solution for Excel files and I'm not about to learn now.

Are those even available unlocked? I'll add them if you can find a picture of them that distinguishes them from any of the other models.

Just add a note at the bottom about em. They're rarely brought up. And even then, aren't they only available through Chinese carriers, locked?

Just download and install Open Office for Linux and you should be good to go. You should be able to put together a basic chart with some formatting without any trouble.

Nice thread here buddy.

I'd to point out that the N95-1 and -3 can have demand paging with update firmwares.
