T-Zones working without proxy!
I'm sure this is a temporary thing, but for the last few days for me in Denver, T-Zones is working without the 216.155.165.50 proxy server.
More ports are open as well- I've been able to connect my Usenet newsreader software at port 119 since this has happened.
Sure, it's not as good as the unlimited free WAP prepaid users on the East Coast are getting, but it's something! ;-)
I'm posting this on my proxy-less MDA right now...

Actually, I haven't been able to get any data on either my post paid or prepaid account here in NYC for the last 2 days...
I'll give the non-proxy a try.
BTW, can you post your exact settings to aid others? Thanks.

Well, there's not much to it on an MDA. I just had to enter the access point: wap.voicestream.com, then accept the defaults- no usernaame or password. That was it. I also noticed my prepaid SIM also has wide open data w/o the proxy as well. With the proxy I'm limited to the T-Zones WAP deck.

I'm of the opinion (contrary to what many others think) that T-Mo may be opening up it's wap APN so that there is no need for a proxy.
I believe the proxy was created in the first place to bridge the gap between early generation phone browsers and more modern html phone browsers. Does not make much sense really to continue running the proxy server just as a bridge.
Actually I hadn't noticed that my symbian MSN client now connects without a problem and I've been able to use the Gmail applet as well. The gmail applet is using the t-zones AP though, so it has usually been going through the proxy. I tried it now with my "Connection" AP which has no proxy settings and voilá, it works.
