How To Guide: Free WAP over GPRS (After 27th)

Well this has been explained briefly in a few messages; and as I see it... information should be free to all, so ive gone ahead and made a quick guide on how to still view wap pages over gprs for free with a desently quick public gateway.

Lets start off with 2 notes...

1) This will ONLY work on phones where you can change the gateway manualy. If you can not change your gateway address then you dont need to bother reading the rest of this.

2) For the people that wanted to keep this secret, you can go shove a pipe up your @$$ ~ Information should be free.

Everything still works fine on T-Mobile, the GPRS ports are still open like they used to be... T-Mobile simply locked down the gateway itself... So what do we do to view WAP pages on the phone again? We change the gateway...

A free gateway that allows you to view and download like you all got used to knowing is "12.25.203.11" or "4.43.156.28" (see bottom note) & I have listed below how to change it on a T610 phone (I dont know about other phones than Sony Ericsson; so you may or may not be able to do this on other phones)

How to change it (T610)
1) Go to Connectivity
2) Go to WAP Options
3) Go to WAP Profiles
4) Edit your existing WAP profile (not t-zones or MMS; but the one you added before the 27th)
5) Go to IP Address
6) Type in 12.25.203.11 or 4.43.156.28 (see bottom note) for the ip address
7) Go back home, hold the back key
8) Have fun

For people with other phones, I can not provide exact instructions for it, or if its even possible on your phone. Some phones wont allow you to change it, and then the above will not work for you.

Edit: Since the gateway above will probibly get overloaded rather quickly, if you would like to run your own gateway you can use http://www.nowwap.com/ - they have a free 30 day trial program. I am currently trying to find a free program that would do the same. ~ On the program in HTTP you need to check Enable HTTP (WAP2)Proxy & Compresson, WTCP Extentions, and Allow tunnel.. then set the port to 9201 and make sure if you have a router that its forwarding that port correctly.

I am using the program above and running my own gateway, trough "4.43.156.28" (since its trialware it will only allow 50 people on at once, but then again im only on dsl anyway... I can also not guarentee that it will be kept running as it's mainly to show that you can build your own gateways; but I will try and keep it up 24/7 until some people have some quicker public gateways open.

This option is available if you seem edit the v300 to allow "Web Sessions" menu. However, so far i've tested the gateway, and it's not loading up. I saw some gateways but they are all the way in Italy, i haven't found any on google. I heard you can use your personal IP if you have DSL/Cable to piggyback a gateway. Thank you for the info. Does GPRS APN mean anything btw?

Even though im in Powertel land where WAP and MWI are free and present, I think this thread should be stickied.

Good work Andre.

I changed my c333 to a different wap gateway and it doesnt seem to work. They probably changed their dns servers to point always to one site, in which case youd need a really smart phone thatll let you change the dns servers, too lazy to test my theory out though.
EDIT: NVM I got it working on my 3650.
