Maybe Verizon will announce a "Blackberry Personal" plan when the Pearl is released, since it's more of a prosumer device, rather than a professional device(with a camera, media player, etc.).

I totally agree and hope to hell this happens. Is there any indication that this could happen? Any?

I believe T-mobile offers BIS service for $20 a month when combined with a voice plan.

And I hope Verizon will consider at least going the $30 route like Cingular for a BIS plan since that's all that I need. The office can get me a BB if they want me connected to BES/work e-mail.

i loved this phone from the moment i heard about it, really one of a kind. so powerful, yet packaged so small. only reason i cant go for this is because BB dont have support for slingbox and having slingbox on your phone is such an amazing concept

Pearl Update- I have been having a ton of issues with my 8703e reception wise and made an agreement with my corp rep that I would go to a phone only device until the next new PDA device is out, at which point they agreed and told me that the next PDA device will be the Pearl. She said that she will have pricing sometime next month and then it will be available beginning in June. I'm excited! I'm getting a free LG 8600 which got great reception at my home until the Pearl released and then I'll get my 2 yr contract price minus the corp discount. The other thing that she confirmed from the VZW specs is that it will be a Rev A device and will have the sure type keyboard and will be grey in color, not black or white.

This would be great! I wonder if VZW will release the Pearl and 8830 back-to-back. There really isn't any reason not to. Both devices are already out on other carriers and theoretically have different target-users. The Pearl is billed as a consumer device and the 8830 a business device.

So...how do you know the Pearl will have better than or equal reception to the 8600?

Its funny how I just called by buddy who is a customer service rep. w/VZ and I asked him about the Pearl and he had no clue about the the phone. He even went to their interanal website to look at future phones and wasnt able to pull any informaiton...I know that he is at the bottom of the food chain, but you would figure at the least he would have some basic informaiton in regards to the pearl if it is coming out within the nex few months. Hopefully VZ is keeping tight lips on the status of this phone....i really need to toss my Treo 700W.....

Customer service reps seem to always be in the dark on future phone releases. If I didn't just reup for 1 yr with VZW I would have switched to Cingular just for the BB Pearl. Love that phone.

I am thinking that this was all a hoax. I am not putting any stock in the Pearl coming on on VZW network anytime soon.

Its definitely safe to say we won't be seeing the Pearl for sometime(as in several quarters). It's just too bad we do have to wait forever for it but seeing as how there really are not any solid rumors out there I have to think it will be end an end of year thing.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 7520: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I still believe that the analysts have mistaken the "pearl" scroll wheel on the 8830e for the actual "pearl phone.". The May 7 date is way too close to the 8830 release date that I've gotten from all my verizon sources.
