HTC device performance comparison - includes Magician and Wizard
In case you didn't see this, Mobile-Review.com previewed a bunch of upcoming HTC devices, and near the bottom of the review, a performance chart was provided:
"Here are the JBenchmark 2 test results. We see HTC Tornado surpassing all others, but we won't make any conclusions since the results greatly depend on the Java realization on a certain device. You see HTC Hurricane surpasses other products, but we won't make conclusions of it, since the results depend on Java realization on a certain device much."
At least it puts to rest the thought that the upcoming Wizard at 195MHz would not be as fast as the current Magician at 416MHz. In fact, the Wizard seems to have outperformed the Magician in every section of the benchmarks, and even almost double the speed for 3D transformation and user interface.

Well, I believe the Tornado, using the Smartphone version of the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS, is less demanding on the resources and processor, while the Pocket PC version deals with a lot more memory, more multitasking, more multimedia, polling the touch-screen interface, and of course, the OS is simply built differently. Kinda like comparing Windows XP to Windows Server 2003 - the interface may look very similar and can run similar apps, but the engine behind each one has some big differences.

No real surprises here...
It's just a little something for the geniuses who think their phones need 800Mhz processors to chew on. They can know that there are other ways to design things...and they work.
By the looks of it, the Wizard is going to be a very powerful device. That's a relief considering how worried many of us here were when we saw the original specs of the device.
