3Gs Charging

Hey guys I have an iPhone 3Gs 16gb, will the phone charge when powered off? I plug it in to charge, it turns on and starts charging, I then power it down, is it still charging? Also since there is no indicator, how long rougly does it take to charge from completely drained? This was my first charge so I let it die completely.

Actually it depends on the power source. You can fully charge it in 2 hours using the AC wall adapter, but if you use a computer with a properly current-limited USB port it'll take longer than that, probably closer to 4 hours.

Battery will charge while off or on.
It will charge faster while off, obviously.
Nothing to interfere with it that way.

I charge both ways. Most of the time I charge
while the phone is on, as after 9 PM EST this is
my primary means of contact.

I would recommend charging for an hour past when it first says it's 100%. Just from personal experience, the battery isn't full until you charge it for a while longer.
