Since the launch of gmail push, I've never had an email come in any longer than 30 seconds after it has been sent, and that was on the first day. Usually about 2 to 3 seconds now.

Gmail via Googlesync can run hot and cold in terms of speed. Over the last day or two I seem to have experienced more slowdowns than normal. When Googlesync was first introduced it ran fine for a day or two then went down for a couple days.

gpush and similar apps all so work well...i just DESPISE how gpush now has a mail application integrated into it...and opens EVERY time that you get a notification...so i dumped it. As for using Gpush on microsoft exchange...im done with that too. its WAY to inconsistent and DESTROYS my battery...so im back to using email as a standard gmail account on my iphone...at least that way its 100 percent reliable.

use pushmail, you can set it to not open anything, open up your mail.app, or open up a URL.
you can even set up filters, so if you get an email to your gmail account, you can set it up to open up gmail.com in safari (which I do, since gmail in safari is wayyy better than the mail app)
It had been working great for me, but not for the last few days. Using the gmail exchange server method it not only doesn't alert me most of the time, but doesn't show all my email. Going back to the older imap server setup and using the third party gpush app works. Every now and then over the last few days I will suddenly see some life from the gmail exchange type server and get an alert. Was hoping to find some solid news as to problems they may be having.
