WIND Mobile Launch Date

According to GSM Word, Wind Mobile's launch date is November 2009. This would make sense because it will take until the end of October for CRTC to finalize their ruling. Of course I am guessing, but it seems to me this would make the most sense. Here is the URL: http://gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/net_cagw.shtml

...or, you could just look on Wind's website...
http://www.windmobile.ca/WIND-news/...ring-questions/

"On our recruitment pages, you can see that we’re actively hiring in Calgary and Toronto for a planned launch before the end of the year. We’ll roll out in other regions in the West and central Canada throughout early 2010"

Elsewhere they have mentioned Q4 as when they are launching. So anytime between Oct and Dec. My bet would be late November. Gsm world tells us nothing :|

nokia are pushing N900 right now, as well as low-end 3710a flip (RM-509)
hopefully SE will follow suit ASAP or they'll lose again

I'm still baffled as to why Vancouver isn't in the initial launch over Calgary. I mean we got them Olympic dollar bills.

Woah, hold on there. Wind don't need money, they'll end up blowing the competition away. Let the others have there glory before Wind takes it away .

The HR person for wind said they are launching in fall, a few weeks ago. So November date seems reasonable.
The olympics start on Feb 12. Im sure by then they will be in Vancouver. Im guessing they will be in Vancouver in late Jan, at the latest. Have people from other countries started to come in Vancouver already? I wouldn't think they would arrive until early Feb and that is when the money will pour in.

November date seems plausible. CRTC review will be over, and during the hiring Q&A they mentioned that they will be hiring for another month. That puts you into October and then training for a November launch.

Maybe we'll starting seeing them build WIND kiosks in malls in Calgary/GTA during October; probably not until they clear the CRTC hearing though.

I'm thinking when WIND does launch in those selected cities, someone needs to take a WIND phone, do a bit of traveling and wherever there is native WIND coverage, is the next areas to be launched.

Well, at least with them launching, all of us in Vancouver will know whether or not it will be worth waiting for, when they launch here. If the plans and phones are really good i would seriously consider waiting!

yeah, that's what I'm waiting for too. Once we know plan prices, phone prices, etc, we can be ready to sign up as soon as they launch here. Plus, if they have a crappy phone lineup, or bad prices on them, we can have some time to ebay ourselves a phone as well

I don't think any of us are without cell phones right now, it's really only money we are trying to save, and features we are trying to obtain. If it turns out Wind has nothing to offer in those categories at least we can give up on waiting. Otherwise, we'll know what we're waiting for, and a general idea of when to expect it. It's really the uncertainty that's killing me

Nice thought, but until I see Wind become the topic of discussion for the average, non-Howard forum member, it's unreasonable to think that it will blow away the competition. Right now, I would guess 98% of Canada has never heard of Wind.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Wind put extremely good plans out there since it will give me a bargaining chip will Telus.
