Strange Beeps when making outgoing calls on Verizon...

Man, I'm not sure if it's with my Motorola v60c phone or with Verizon's service, but everytime I make a phone call, there's a sound, BEEP BEEP that occurs right before it starts ringing. Sometimes, I have to wait 3-4 seconds before the beep occurs and then it starts ringing.

I've brought this to Verizon two times now and each time, they've given me a "reconditioned" phone and it's fine in the beginning, but after a month or so, it happens again.

Just wondering if other Verizon people have this problem and if so, what do you think it might be? Thanks guys!

Are you sure you don't have voice mail? If you have new, unchecked VM, it will make a beep or two everytime you make an outgoing call until you check it.

    THanks Joe0378!! You're awesome!

Ok, I really feel dumb now. I always thought it was so annoying! I just tested this and indeed, it beeps twice because you have a voicemail.....

    Thanks again,

    You're very welcomed!!

Don't feel dumb. That's why we are all here...to help each other out.

Verizon does that in case you did not notice the "mail" icon on your phone display.

It used to be used here in the NC market but not anymore. Only time I see it now is customers who have old plans. If you do not want it to do that, you can have the feature cut off.

Here in Wyoming *at least in this half* we have the stutter tone available to us too. Most phones don't need it anymore as we now receive all of our voicemail indicators in analog AND digital. It was a nice feature though, for us here it was used in the analog areas to tell you that you had a voicemail because your phone wouldn't alert you.

    Two possibilities:

    1) You have voicemail.

    2) You're dialing *67 to block caller ID (or *82 to unblock it) and the switch in your area gives "confirmation" beeps when those codes are used. (VZW used to do that for awhile here in Atlanta, but when they switched from Motorola switch gear to Nortel a few months ago, the "feature" went away.)
