It just figures! After all this waiting the 8125 and i-mate JAMin are available to me ON THE SAME DAY! WTF am I gonna do? Maybe I'll buy both and keep the winner?
Just ordered on premier website. I was able to place order with discount for a accepting 2 year contract. I've only been with Cingular for a short time but I believe with premier it allows for upgrades at any time. I currently have 2125 with $20 MediaNet unlimited and there was no requirement to change data plans. I also noticed that if you go in as a new customer and select the 8125 then it does show the same MediaNet plan as an option. Here is the price info from the confirmation...
Phone
Cingular 8125 $449.99
Savings -$224.99
Activation Fee
Upgrade Service $18.00
Taxes $21.87
Total One-Time Charges $264.87
Total Monthly Charges$0.00
anyone else notice how it allows you to choose 19.99 unlimited media plan. Awesome. to be sure, I added a HP pocket PC and it made me choose the 39.99 plan. To sweet. best get my order in before they figure it out.

I commented on this earlier and also noticed that if you filter by PDA it doesn't come up so it was certainly categorized incorrectly in the system. While this seems good I am not entirely confident that they won't figure it out while processing the order. I believe there may always be some manual verification that takes place or it may trip some flag further along. Not only may not work on the pricing but there is certainly a chance that it will delay the order processing once they figure it out and have to contact everybody that slipped through.
I can't say that it is suprising at all. For one thing... their website is certainly less than well managed all around. Plus it seems like there are communcation issues that take place internally that affect the customer all the time. All large organizations have their communications issues but they really need to have some quality control over what gets to the website and what gets said over the phone.
There is certainly something more strange here than just the data plans. The straight up cost of $449 seems ridiculously low. Then after premier discounts the 2125 ends up being slightly more, the Treos are over $100 more, and the HPs are over $200 more. Of course this doesn't take into consideration any rebates but I don't think there are any rebates applicable on premier.
I could almost buy two of these little gems for the price of the HP dinosaur.
