    Beeping during conversations

    Hello Everyone,

About a month ago, my phone started to make a beeping sound while talking to people. It sounds like the beeping that you would hear while on the phone with a credit card company letting you know that your call is being recorded. (1 beep every couple of seconds)

I know a few of my friends have had this happen before, but I was wondering if anyone in the HoFo community has been experiencing this, or possibly knows the cause of it?

Could tmobile be recording phone calls? If so, why?

    Thanks

If it is truely every few seconds, I dont know what it is. If it beeps once every 60 seconds, You have accidentally turned on a feature called "minute minder". It beeps once every minute to let you keep track of your call time. On my Ericsson T610 it is under the Settings menu-- then under "Sounds and Alerts"

Are you sure you didn't turn on your "Minute minder"?

You may never know, but it could have just been call waiting

It would help if you mentioned what phone you have that the beeping is happening on so that we can tell you exactly how to turn it off.

But since you are so paranoid to not let us know, it would have to be the "minute minder" that's making the phone beep every 60 seconds as everyone else is mentioning it.

If anyone was recording your phone calls it wouldn't be T-Mobile.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the phone is a Samsung E715. Minute minder is off, but its the same tone.

What makes it odd is that it doesn't happen all the time, just every now and again :-/

Heh this was a notorious problem with the Samsung A620 (very slight beeps during calls)...I wonder if its anything like this.

Like DOPE posted, are you sure it isn't just call waiting? Maybe some is calling you while you are on the other line. I have a E715 using DC5 f/w without any problems, which version are you using?

hehe, it isn't call waiting, that's a different sound.

How can I tell what f/w I'm running?

Is it possible to update FW over IR? or would I need the cable? If I need the cable, where can I get it the cheapest?

You would need the Cable to Flash your Phone with new Firmware.

As for the cheapest place, eBay.

For the quickest and next cheapest would be from someone in the Buy/Sell/Trade Forums (H2o).

Make sure you get the OEM Serial Data Cable model number PCB093LBE as the Non-OEM USB ones are too finicky to setup.
