I wanted to start a new thread on Blackberry Connect and the Tilt. There have been a couple out there, but I felt this might be able to help people get questions answered on BBC in one place.
I have been up and running on BB Connect for a little over an hour. My company has a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), so my experiences will be based on that. To install BB Connect on my 8925 I simply went to the BB Connect Icon located in the messaging settings. Once I had that installed, I tried to install the BB Connect desktop software from HTC America on my PC. After trying to connect to the BES unsuccessfully, I handed my device over to our IT guys who synced it directly to our BES. Everything worked fine and they had no problem setting it up, much like a regular Blackberry.
I have Phone Alarm installed on my Today Screen, so my messaging is controlled through there. This works perfect for me because it tracks my texts and emails separately, but may not work great for people who are trying to track multiple emails.
My email experience has been much the same as it has been with Blackberry's. My mail is quick, sometimes even beating my computer. The options are great and easily controlled much like they would be with a Blackberry. I have not had enough time to get an understanding for what type/ if any battery drain this causes and will post tomorrow when I have a better idea. I have also synced my calender and contacts without issue.
One of the best features that doubles as one of the worst IMO, is that it suspends connection with the BES when you access PIE or Opera. To me this is great because you do not get stuck with the Blackberry Browser on a WM6 device. I was able to use WM Live and the GPS while still receiving emails, but I cannont figure out why. This would be good for using this feature while driving, but still having email access. Although I am not sure if this would always be the case. My major problem with this feature is that it only seems to return to Blackberry Email if you go into task manager and close programs accessing the internet. Even then, I cannot put my finger on what actually returns me to being able to send and receive BB email. If someone knows what to do please post so. Hopefully somebody has a fix for this, but I am not sure if there can be one. The problem that it states is the BB Connect needs to use the radio. However, if you would like to use PIE through the BES, utilizing the BB Browser you can do this as well and continue to have Blackberry access while on the internet. The only other negative is if you connect to PIE without going through the BES it does take slightly longer to get to the first site because it shuts down the BB radio After that though, it is business as usual in terms of speed.
Overall, I am very pleased with BB Connect. I think most of the time I want to use PIE without the Blackberry Browser, I would not really care if I was receiving emails. If anyone has any questions about this or has any better insights than I could give please post them. I will report back on the battery, which seems pretty stable thus far.

Good deal. Has your phone gotten slower otherwise? There have been reports that the phone slowed down considerably overall after installing BBC. I'm talking about other than the time it takes to close and re=open a connection.
How do you use the BB Browser? Is there a separate app for it? Or do you point PIE to a certain URL?
Also, as for "breaking" the connection to MediaNet to restart a BB.net connection, is there a button on the BB program that you can click on to force it to "retrieve" mail? If so, I would think clicking on that would force the phone to close the existing connection, and open the BB one wiuthtou having to close things manually. But I'm just guessing.
I will try to answer all I can from my 8925 if I miss one I wil follow up tomorrow. I have noticed a slight slow down in overall usage. especially when using the touch screen. there is another app for the bb browser. It takes you to PIE but runs in through the BES so you don't lose email connectivity. Essentialy you have the option of using either one. One thing I have since learned is that it does reset itself to email after 5 minutes or less regardless of whether you use task manager. Another annoyance I have since found is that if you do connect through the BB browser and do not close it a pop up continually asks if you want to remain connected to the BES for internet browsing. All in all I am still pretty happy and hope I learn more of the next few days that will make it even better. One big positive is I found almost zero effect on battery.

And just to confirm - you only have the Blackberry Unlimited data plan? No MediaNET or MediaMAX, right? I would be doing the same, accessing both BES and BIS.
I actually called and added the blackberry connect plan. I t costs the same as the BES plan 44.99. I am not sure if I got lucky with the rep or not. When I tried to add it at the store when I bought the phone they would not let me because they said it wasn't available.

Depending on your set up, you may even be able to do it without your IT team doing anything.
Basically, download and install the BBC software on the phone. Then ALSO download and install the BB Desktop for Windows software on your PC. THen connect your phone to your PC, and run the software on both sides. Then once they are connected, you click "Generate PIN" and a new PIN (security code) is set up and your new phone is active and your odl phone disabled.
To go back, you'd need the BB desktop software for BBs (which should have come with our BB 8800). And essentially do the same thing as above with the old phone.

Thanks, can you provide the official link to the "BB Desktop for Windows software" you are referring to?
I supplied my IMEI when activating... So are you still thinking this could work?

And in case you are wondering why I am asking for feedback, even though I claim to have gotten it to work, I did get it to work, but have since switched back. But the reason was cuz I got it to work, but had a strange issue where it resent a bunch of emails. I didn't know why it was happening, and removed the SW after about 10 min. But then, I've since figured out why that was happening (let me just say, make sure you don't have XpressMail or Seven Push Email running already when you install BBC). And since I got that figured out, I'm considering re-installing it.
I installed the software and got as far as generating the PIN. But I am stuck at a certain point now.
After entering the PIN on the TILT.... The service states:
Blocked - Radio in use
Therefore on the activation tab it states "Activation Pending".
How do I get the Blocked - Radio in use to go away?
My friend had the same error, and the problem was that he didnt have the BB data plan on his account (he had the regular medianet plan). Once he switched over to the BB plan it worked for him.
That's what happened to me and I went to the IT guy to set it up directly with the BES.
A couple other observations I have made. If you try and browse PIE or even go to MediaNet it is very slow because BB Connect constantly tires to retake the radio and you need to re-establish data connection almost everytime you access a new page. There are two workarounds for this - 1. As mentioned before you can use BB Browser which runs PIE, but not MediaNet and keeps you connected to the BES, or 2. which is the best option and most helpful if you are doing any significant surfing. Before clicking on the IE or Opera link, you can manually suspend your BB connection. You can then surf without incident as you normally would. When you are done, you simply resume your connection and you are back in BB business.
