Noticed something interesting when my univeristy's network went down. I tethered my cell phone to my computer and when I would go to www.google.com I was redirected to www.google.com.pr . The IP i must've been assigned was/is a Puerto Rico IP. Kind of interesting, I thought.

Weird. I only get that happening if I choose Puerto Rico for the country in the Regional Options in Control Panel (Windows XP) or the Settings panel (Pocket PC). I always though that Google detects this setting and redirects you automatically.

I'm regurgitating from a previous post. Since I alluded to this thread in this post

http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...406#post2894406

... I thought I'd also mention it here:

--- snip ---

(By the way, that google.com.pr thing???? I get it when I'm logged in as WIXDC001 on ISP.CINGULAR, and my transfer rate BLOWS.)

Unrelated musings:

I noticed that connecting with :
Username: WIXDC001@W5.MYCINGULAR.COM
Password:: ZXY203DC9K0402
APN: ISP.CINGULAR

I got 10 d/l, 10 u/l and graphics sucked in IE.

Connecting with:
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Address: wap.cingular

I get 35/d 21/u.

That normally happens when you use foreign proxies.
